Ballet flats be gone!!  There is a new show in town: the sneaker.  Everywhere you look, our fashion forward friends are styling their sneakers in ways we haven’t seen in years! One of my favorite things about this trend is the broad range of styles it includes. It’s 'anything goes' as long as you balance the rest of your outfit to make it look purposeful and not like you forgot to take off your commuter shoes. Here are a few outfit options to make this trend really pop!

In the Northeast, we're at that time of year when we need something in between boots and sandals. The sneaker is the perfect, weather appropriate footwear for practically anything you have on your calendar. For a laid back, weekend look, pair your favorite boyfriend jeans with a slightly cropped white t-shirt, your go-to leather jacket, and a pair of high-tops:

I love the Comme de Garcons sneakers because they are a step above your regular Converse Chuck Taylors. The heart graphic is such a perfect girly touch on a very tomboy style.

Events come up occasionally that require more formal attire, but your favorite four inch heels are just not practical for the amount of standing and walking you'll be doing. Insert the sneaker!! I recommend pairing your midi skirt with your favorite pair of Nikes for a look that will be surprisingly chic. Choosing your Nikes instead of a more fashion oriented pair of sneakers will help the look to appear more effortless.

Embellished slip-on sneakers are a must have for spring and summer. They are the perfect way to amp up your everyday style whatever your plans entail. Pair any of these with your favorite white skinny jeans, a casual tee and a jean jacket and you are ready for anything.

And if you thought you couldn’t wear sneakers to truly any occasion, you will be shocked to hear that I have chosen what I believe to be the piece de résistance for my wedding day:

Most people don’t think of me as a sneaker-wearing bride, but the greatest thing about this trend is the fact that, perhaps for once, we don’t have to sacrifice comfort to look great in it. Since my wedding is a garden wedding, the idea of wearing heels that will likely sink into the ground and get ruined is a real drag. These sneakers are the perfect solution for me and I'm thrilled to be right on trend for my wedding day.
