I once hashed out on the technological world.

In college, technology was a world only associated with cerebral fortunates submerged in their English major who could not only recite Macbeth thrice over at our annual literature festival, but also use a GoPro camera like a freaking wizard in Film 401. On the weekends, they could put together an animated GIF image with the clap of their ink-stained hands. These kids had it all.

Partnered project after partnered project with these tech stars led me to believe I most certainly needed to get in on this action.  After all, a tech education was the key to success and success equaled prodigy for women in technology.

My kind (and much more capable) friends introduced me to Skillshare, a platform designed to help you learn those specific skills you’d like to acquire. Taught by hundreds of teachers around the world, Skillshare gives you online access to choose when and where you’d like to learn. It’s as good as any hands-on experience, at the simple click of a button. Sure, there are a plethora of credible teaching resources available online and offline, but Skillshare has risen above the crowded noise and proved to be one of the best educational tools on the market.

Trying to learn Photoshop?  They’ve got it.

Interested in learning auto mixing?  Done.

Longing for a class to learn character animation?  Skillshare has that too.

Here’s how it works: Beginning with a free 7-day trial, Skillshare grants members access to a variety of classes and weekly updates on class schedules for just $9.99 per month.

BALLIN.

In a culture (and digital world) where new and technological skills are needed to keep oneself polished and up-to-date, many of these educational opportunities are actually offered outside of the classroom.  You don’t even need to go back to school to make it work. Therefore, Skillshare appears to be a pretty shveet deal for women in technology.

While I spend my weekdays on digital and marketing strategies, I hope to take web development classes nights and weekends this summer. Skillshare fits my schedule and - hella good news for those interested - it can fit yours too.
