It’s here again ladies. The beautiful days of bountiful sun, summer breeze, but also summer hair. If you’re anything like me, your hair does not always befriend the summer humidity.  So instead of working against it, let the summer season play in your favor!  Today I’m talking a few tips for summer hair do’s and don’ts.

1) Top knot

I’m still a #1 fan of the top knot.  Super easy, and super chic.  The top knot is also great when you want to bare your tanned shoulders, or are wearing a great necklace or shirt with awesome shoulder detail.   Opt for a tight twisted bun and put on the crown of your head, or go for a big messy bun that looks effortless.  Bobby pin as necessary, and spray to hold in place (I like Aussie Instant Freeze Hairspray).

2) Side braid and messy bun

Keep your hair out of your face with a side braid folded into a messy bun at the nape of the neck.  French braid your hair into side of head and then loosely tie into a messy bun. Add a flower or decorative piece for a fun and flirty vibe. Easy as 1-2-3!

3) Beach waves

This is by far my favorite.  What is easier than beach waves in the summer? Apply a light-weight scrunching spray or mouse and use your fingers to create texture and piece apart. Diffuse or let air-dry, then spritz a beach spray through the hair (I like Fekkai Summer Hair Beach Waves Curl Enhancing Spray). Finish off with a curling iron for added effect and seal with volumizing hair spray.

4) Sleek pony

Looking for a super easy way to fight frizz and be out the door in 10 minutes or less? Opt for the sleek pony! First, brush through hair using a round brush to smooth things over. Pull hair back at eye level and brush hair into the ponytail. Spray flyaways with an instant freeze hairspray and brush extra pieces into ponytail.

5) Tendrils

Ok, ok, I know we’re not in 7th grade again. But I think tendrils are making a comeback if done the right way. Tease up hair back into a low messy bun, and bobby pin various pieces so the look is textured around the crown of the head. Pull down a few strands of shorter hair around the eyes. Leave loose (but spray to hold) for a fresh and whimsical summer look.

This summer, turn some heads with a new do!
