It's certainly true that all work and no play makes Jane a dull girl.  While summer makes us all want to go out and play, like Jane, we have bills to pay. Just because you are stuck enjoying the summer sky from the window of your conference room, doesn’t mean your workday wardrobe has to be drab like winter. Try these style tips to help you stylishly sashay your way from meeting to meeting this summer.  Work it, girl.

Pencil It In

Lighten up a conservative pencil skirt with a feminine blouse. Think a slightly puffed sleeve, a bright print, ruffle detail, or even a dressed up tee with your go-to office skirt.

Shimmer in the Summer

Metallics are an easy way to lighten up your work attire in the summer.  Blazers with a metallic stitching look chic with off-white or tan pants.  Be careful, here, though.  There is a fine line between dressing for the boardroom versus dressing for the ballroom.  Don’t cross it.  Leave your strappy gold stilettos at home, and opt for a nude peeptoe instead.  Complement this look with a little extra bronzer and a sleek pulled back chignon.

Brighten Up Your Shoe Game

When work calls for a conservative black or grey dress or suit, think about adding a pop of color-to your feet!  A bright pair of pumps are office friendly, while still reminding you of some fun in the sun.  Try a teal pair of pumps with a grey dress for an instant seasonal update.

See It In Print

When paired with a conservative black blazer, your favorite fun printed item of clothing is suddenly suited for work. A bold floral print dress is the perfect summer compliment to your otherwise stuffy black blazer. A well-tailored pair of printed pants are chic enough for a power lunch when teamed up with a structured jacket. Dare to be bold and add a bright shirt or mix it up with a fun animal print pump.

The ShirtDress

Every working girl should own a chic shirtdress. This workhorse item can easily take you from a long day at the office to drinks with your beau. Think about adding a stylish belt or bold necklace to keep this look feeling fresh.
