There’s something about a Saturday afternoon in June – the kind of day that starts lazily and ends whenever the bonfire has flickered out.  With summer comes the promise of warmer days and longer nights, when school is out and sundresses are in. It’s the time of the year that always seems to end too quickly.  Summer is a chance to take a breath – be it through a vacation getaway or a barbeque with friends – and the balmy weather goes hand in hand with relaxation.

However, for some, summer means something very different: it means shorts and tank tops and swimsuits and, as a result, body anxiety.  Warmer months often lead to more revealing clothing, especially if you’re a woman.  And for some women, wearing short shorts, a tight tank top, or a bikini at the beach can provoke insecurities that weren’t as present in the winter months.  Female body confidence can be hard to come by, and baring more skin is only going to make matters worse – unless  you take these three reminders into consideration.

Confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can wear.  How you look in your outfit is always going to depend on how you feel in it.  Don’t focus too hard on trends – trust me when I say that high-rise denim shorts are not the be-all and end-all to your summer wardrobe (I hate those things). Just wear and buy clothes that make you feel beautiful – you know, that mirror-selfie-in-the-dressing-room type of confidence.

Everyone else is just as self-conscious as you are.  In fact, everyone else at the beach is probably so worried about their own cellulite that they won’t notice yours, I promise. Plus…

…imperfection is beautiful.  All the little things that you may hate about yourself are parts of you that make you you.  You never know who's  jealous of your strong shoulders or your voluptuous curves – focus less on what you don’t like about yourself and focus more on how wonderful it is to be in your own skin.  You only get one stomach, so don’t hate on it so much. Think about how much your body does for you and all the amazing things it allows you to do.

The best ‘How to Get Bikini Body Ready’ advice I ever received was to simply put on a damn bikini.  You’re always ready.  There isn’t a weight limit to getting a tan and you most definitely don’t have to be a size zero to feel cute this summer.  Don’t let the sunshine hold you back, but rather let it inspire you to shed a few layers – you may be surprised to find that underneath it all, you’ve been hiding more than you ever imagined.

I love this so much! And I would definitely say that sweating in this heat might not feel sexy but that healthy glow makes you look like a greek goddess.
