When I first started meditating I didn’t expect to be making it my life and my business.  What started as a personal struggle became my passion - and I just went with it, not knowing where it would lead.

I used to live the high-powered corporate life.  Global travel, day-long meetings, big accounts, assistants, and a whole lot of stress.  For a while I believed success to be a number on a paycheck, the make of my car, or a title on my business card.  But as time progressed and my career moved forward, I realized how disconnected I was becoming, how little passion I had for the work I did, and how meaningless my life felt.

Suddenly I didn’t feel so successful anymore.

When I made the decision to quit my career and follow my passion for meditation, no money manager would have told me it was a fiscally sound idea.  My old self definitely would have thought I was crazy.  But I somehow found the courage to put those fears aside.  I set my intention, I went after it, and I released all expectations of where it would lead.

It certainly helped that meditation taught me to do all of this, but at the end of the day, it was my inner businesswoman that pushed me forward.  I knew I had to do this.  I knew I had to take a chance and follow my passion to be truly successful.

I learned a lot of lessons in the corporate world, but perhaps no greater one than the importance of following my intuition.  Fear, disillusionment, following somebody else’s expectations, they had all kept me from achieving genuine success.  What meditation gave me was more than any degree, job, or salary ever could have.  It restored my passion.  It expanded my horizons.  It gave me purpose.
