Summer in New York is festival season:  We have Governors Ball,  Jazz Age Lawn Party, and  Museum Mile Festival.  This year, though, locals and visitors alike have two brand new festivals to add to their summer schedule.  And they’re both all about wine!  Mark your calendars for the second and third weekends in July and rally your squad: Pinknic and Uncorked are coming to NYC!

First up is Pinknic, a two-day celebration of rosé wine and all things pink, complete with pink wine glasses, pink-and-white picnic blankets covering every inch of Governors Island, and the (suggested) pink-and-white dress code.

Why rosé, you ask?  Pinknic co-founder Pierrick Bouquet said it best stating, ‘Rosé is not just a wine, it’s an experience and a lifestyle.  It’s a wine to be enjoyed with friends, it’s easy to pair with a variety of foods, and is the perfect complement to any summer gathering.’

Considering Pinknic was created by the same people as another rosé-themed festival, La Nuit en Rosé, it would seem the pink wine has earned it’s place among hot-weather drinks.  And what goes better with New York’s first large-scale picnic and music festival (which also includes DJ sets and performances from Tortured Soul, Miami Horror, and others) than a refreshing glass—or two—of rosé?  Pair it with one of the custom picnic baskets designed by celebrity chef Chris Santos, and you’ve got yourself a picture-perfect summer weekend.

The wine-filled fun doesn’t end after the pink blankets are rolled up.  The following weekend, July 16, head over to the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th Street for Uncorked.  Here, you can spend your Saturday afternoon tasting more than 100 wines from around the world—France, Italy, New Zealand, Germany, and Japan—as well as domestic favorites from Napa, Sonoma, Oregon, and New York.

The first Uncorked festival was held last year in Phoenix, and since then there have been events in many other major cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, and D.C.  ‘Uncorked was born from a desire to create an event that caters to wine lovers of all levels,’ says Michelle Harris, the coordinator for the New York event.  ‘We’re excited to bring it to the Big Apple for the first time.’

You don’t have to be a wine aficionado to enjoy Uncorked.  This is a great chance for wine enthusiasts and novice drinkers to taste a wide variety of wine all in one place.  The event will also feature artisanal food vendors, a video DJ, and a photo booth.  Bring your friends, put on your best LBD, and raise a glass at Uncorked.

Saturday, July 16, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
The Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street
