Say you’re an independent young woman living in a major U.S. city like New York and, in an effort to save money for that new purse from Saks, you forgo a taxi ride and take the subway back to your apartment.  Along the way to your subway station, you notice a man has been following you from afar.  But then you realize you can’t be exactly sure he's trailing you, and calling 911 might be considered overreacting.   In a moment of panic, you begin digging around in your purse looking for your pepper spray that you always bring with you, but now can't find.

Eventually you settle for texting your mom 'I love you' just in case but sadly, cell service isn’t exactly available underground.  Now you find yourself wishing you weren't alone in the subway at night and had someone by your side to protect you.  At this point, you would even settle for someone who knows your whereabouts and would be able to call the police in case you go missing.  Luckily for us, we live in the 21st century where there is an app for everything- including protecting us from the late-night dangers of society.

SafeTrek was developed to bridge 'the gap between doing nothing and calling 911 in an unsafe situation.'

After getting fed up with the ridiculous amount of crime reports and hearing frightening stories from their friends, a few college kids decided to solve the issues that the Blue Lights on campus were failing to fix.  Thus SafeTrek was developed to bridge 'the gap between doing nothing and calling 911 in an unsafe situation.'  The company’s slogan says it all: 'Hold until safe-it’s that easy.'

When you find yourself in a potentially dangerous situation, but not dangerous enough to call 911, unlock your phone and launch the SafeTrek app and put your finger on the blue button.  Once you know for sure that you're safe, simply release your finger and enter your customized four-digit passcode.

In an emergency, do not enter your passcode upon releasing your finger and the app will notify your local police of your location and name within ten seconds.  And if your attacker takes you for a not-so-nice stroll around town, the police will be able to use your phone’s GPS tracker to locate you.  If you are unresponsive, someone from the SafeTrek headquarters will text you until they know for sure you're safe.  With SafeTrek, you're able to protect yourself without worrying you might be overreacting by calling 911.  The best part?  SafeTrek works anywhere in the U.S. and you can use it as many times as you’d like with no extra charges.  How’s that for safe?

While pepper spray is a great thing to have, it’s awkward to carry around and won’t call 911.

No matter how independent you are, we’ve all experienced times where we wished we weren't alone.  And while pepper spray is a great thing to have with us at all times, it’s awkward to carry around, won’t cause an attacker to run in the opposite direction, and won’t call 911.  Take a few minutes, and a few dollars, to protect yourself with SafeTrek.
