'Time has a way of stealing those creative juices, the ones that were seemingly overflowing in my cup when I was ten.' - bSmart member Brooke Spencer Vigil provides her insights and key steps to finding time to be creative.

This group is for anyone who is curious about or actively seeking how to incorporate the Christian faith into their every day lives. I am a Christian author, and will share my blogs here, but I encourage all women to comment, share and discuss how their faith strengthens them, challenges them, gives them hope, etc. All are welcome to join!
Rejection is part of my job. If I want to reach my income goals or break into writing at new publications or covering new topics, I have to put myself out there over and over again. In fact, in my...
BETH ANN FENNELLY WAS AT THAT place where no writer wants to be. The words just weren't coming. A little embarrassing for someone who teaches writing at the University of Mississippi in its MFA program. She's also Mississippi's poet laureate. Ms. Fennelly and her husband, author Tom Franklin, had just published the critically acclaimed "The Tilted World," their collaborative novel set during the 1927 flooding of the Mississippi River. "It was a big novel that took us four years," she says. "(It involved) a lot of research. There were a lot of high stakes. If it failed, it would not have been good for our marriage. It took a lot out of me." She thought she'd immediately begin another novel, but instead, was floundering. "I kept not writing. At least, that's what I maintained. My passions for traveling and writing are unquestionably intertwined. I recently wrote a piece about visiting Scotland (my second home!) for The Points Guy. Has anyone been to Scotland? I'd love to hear your experience! https://thepointsguy.com/2017/08/why-you-should-visit-edinburgh/
As a writer, one of the most important habits we can form is also being a consistent reader. I loved how this piece discussed the conventional fairytale, and specifically, compared how they warn vs. empower women: http://lithub.com/the-useful-dangers-of-fairy-tales/
Someday, my daughter will ask me why there are so few mothers in fairy tales. Or rather, why there are so few living mothers. Mothers are nowhere and everywhere in these tales: made dead or spirit,…
Hi Amanda! I'm very excited you started this group! I'm involved with a bunch of writing projects (copy for bSmart, articles for Indulgencezine.com, personal writing/journaling) but most pressingly I'm currently writing a Personal Statement for graduate school applications to PHD programs in Comparative Literature.
Do you have any advice on how to go about this? It's a daunting challenges and a lot rides on it, so I'm grateful for any input and suggestions!
